Ride into the night

Clear, bright and white, the moon shines over my shoulder

Ahead, low, near the horizon, through the gaps between the trees,

The dark orange remnant of the day’s sun still glows.

I ride slowly, feeling the subtle changes in the breeze that I create.

It’s warm. I feel it on bare arms and legs.

It cools so slightly that it feels more like blanket than a breeze.

The side streets are quiet and dark.

I roll silently. My bike seems to add to the stillness, rather than the sound.
